The process occurs when the oxidizing agent reacts with the reducing agent to form an acid. This acid and water are the reaction that turns it into fuel. Since there are two substances, the oxidation is said to occur when t he oxidizing agent is dissolved.Reaction is always a two-step process, and that is what allows for a two-step reaction. When oxidation happens, the reaction moves from an oxidation state, where the reducing agent forms acid, to the reduction state, where the oxidizing agent forms water. When a reduction takes place, the oxidizing agent will turn into a non-acidic form. The opposite reaction is called the acidifying state, and the process begins again.The rate at which these reactions take place will change depending on the composition of the materials used and different amounts of these substances are needed for the same reaction. The process is very fast, but it is not very predictable because of the two steps involved. Once the student has mastered this process, they can move on to the more complex aspects of chemical reaction.
